Kitesurfing Holidays in South Fuerteventura, Spain

Throughout most of the year, there's a breeze blowing offshore, making the water super flat. Sometimes, in winter, the wind blows onshore, creating excellent waves. On calm days without waves or wind, you can use paddle boards to explore the coastline and maybe even spot turtles in the clear waters of Fuerteventura.

There are 3 kitesurf resorts in this area:

Risco del Paso - This spot is a short 10-minute drive south of the main resort, located at the southern end of the well-known Sotavento Lagoon. You'll need a car, or you can arrange for daily pick-ups from the kitesurf centre. It's a great place because it's very natural, with no hotels around, resulting in less gusty winds. Depending on the tides, a natural pool forms, ideal for beginners learning kitesurfing.

Matas Bay - This bay is famous for its flat water, perfect for windy days in the summer. If the waves are too big, they head to the nearby lagoon, popular among locals for freestyle kitesurfing. Matas Bay offers a chill-out area with sun loungers and sheltered spots for families to relax while watching kiteboarders, windsurfers, or wingfoilers. It's just a 15-minute walk to the nearest hotel from here, so a car isn't necessary.

Sotavento - Perhaps the most famous spot, especially if you want to stay close to a good kitesurfing spot, as there are two hotels nearby. Like Risco del Paso, there's a tidal lagoon here, but it can be pretty gusty.

Windsurfing Holidays in South Fuerteventura, Spain

Throughout most of the year, there's usually wind blowing from the side or slightly off the shore, making the water nice and flat. This makes it perfect for people who are just starting out in windsurfing, those who enjoy cruising around, and those who love going fast. In the winter, sometimes the wind blows straight onto the shore, creating some really great waves.

There are 4 main Windsurf spots:

Costa Calma is the main area for tourists, with lots of hotels lining the beach. The beach itself is wide and beautiful. But because of the hotels, the wind can be a bit unpredictable and gusty close to shore, so it's better to head out about 200 meters for smoother wind. Mornings are suitable for beginners, and once the wind picks up, more experienced riders can have a blast. Beginners' windsurfing lessons usually happen in very easy conditions here. Speed enthusiasts will find excellent conditions on the flat and windy water when the wind gets stronger. In short, Costa Calma is a true paradise for windsurfing.

Risco del Paso is about a 10-minute drive south of the main tourist area, right at the southern tip of the famous Sotavento Lagoon. You'll need a car, or you can arrange for daily pickups from the windsurfing center. It's a wilder spot with no hotels around, so the wind is less gusty. Depending on the tides, a natural pool forms, perfect for beginners' windsurfing lessons. You can make big improvements here and master your water starts and turns.

Matas Bay is another spot known for its super flat water. Locals know Matas Bay is perfect for freestyle and high-speed windsurfing. There's also a chill-out area here with sun loungers and sheltered corners for families to relax while watching the action on the water. And it's just a short walk to the nearest hotel, so you don't necessarily need a car.

Sotavento is probably the most famous spot because of the huge Windsurf centre, one of the biggest in Europe. If you want to be really close to a top windsurfing spot, this is it, with two hotels nearby. Like Risco del Paso, there's a lagoon here that's great for kids learning to windsurf.

Wingfoiling Holidays in South Fuerteventura, Spain

Most of the year, the wind blows from the side or slightly off the shore, flatting the water. This is great for beginners in wingfoiling, those who like cruising, and those who enjoy speed. The wind can blow directly onto the shore during winter, creating fantastic waves.

There are three main wingfoiling spots:

1. Costa Calma: This place is popular among tourists, with many hotels along the wide and beautiful beach. However, the wind near the shore can be unpredictable due to the hotels. It's better to go about 200 meters out for steadier wind. Mornings are good for beginners, while experienced riders can have fun when the wind picks up. Beginners usually have their lessons in easy conditions here. When the wind is strong, speed enthusiasts can enjoy excellent conditions for fast rides. In short, Costa Calma is a perfect spot for wingfoiling.

2. Matas Bay: Known for its super flat water, Matas Bay is great for freestyle and high-speed windsurfing. There's also a chill-out area with sun loungers and sheltered corners for families to relax and watch the action on the water. It's conveniently close to the nearest hotel, so a car isn't necessary.

3. Sotavento: This is probably the most famous spots. It's close to two hotels, making it very convenient.
